Strynn: Decadence

28/06/13  ||  Cobal

Black metal from France that succeeds at re-creating the sound that made me fall in love with this genre in the first place. I don’t know about you, but I have had quite a few good surprises amongst the avalanch of underground black releases this year. Particularly from the French scene, that is. And no, it’s not about innovative or pretentious music, what I mean is doing what you like and doing it right. Cold, raw and even melancholic at times, “Decadence” is the kind of album I can play just to let it mesmerize me. However, if what you’re looking for is great songwriting, memorability or trascendence, beware. Me, I’ll help myself another scotch and play it again while staring at the rain through the window. Cheers.

7,5/10: I’m about to major in French black metal.
