Resleep: Kieroin
05/09/06 || Statik Majik
Since I’m not quite sure if this fucker should be treated like a demo or a “normal” release, I’m tempted to go with the first one. But since there’s not a single “demo” word used on Resleep’s website describing this disc, it makes no difference what I’m tempted to do. It looks like it’s an official release after all, and I’m going to bash it like one.
So these Finns released their second EP, “Kieroin”, in the beginning of this year. I honestly don’t remember how I stumbled upon this band, but after I heard the “Kärmes” song I was impressed enough to actually buy this EP. Sure as hell the description of their music on their site had nothing to do with my decision to purchase it. I mean they describe their music as “snake-heavy”...
Snake-heavy....
Ok, I’m not gonna touch that description. Not even with a ten foot pole. As hard as it’s for me. Snake-heavy for fuck’s sakes…
So, what kind of music do these fuckos perform then..? Extremely catchy thrash metal with almost death-like vocals. That’s what these fucko’s are about and I dig it. Resleep does their shit pretty fucken well. This disc ain’t too polished, and in this case I consider that a good thing. Dont’ get me wrong, there’s nothing negative with the production, but they obviously didn’t spend too much time finetuning the sound in the studio. No Fear Factory kind of clinicism here.
I could analyze each and every song since this is short EP, but I won’t. The previous chapter tells pretty accurately what Resleep is about and if you feel interested, I’d recommend downloading the “Kärmes” track and checking the fucker out yourself. It’s worth the effort. And it also happens to be the strongest song from this release.
Oh yeah, there’s also a video included on this EP. Fan-fucken-tastic. It’s a pretty good video, nothing out of the ordinary though. Too bad their multimedia-section of the cd doesn’t work properly and you have to go thru the extra hassle of locating the video manually from the disc in order to view it.
Good job, bozos. Now all I have left is one tiny question… When can we expect a fucken full length?
7/10.
