Mordbrand: Necropsychotic
31/08/11 || cadenz
When death metal marries punk, evil stuff occur. Like this EP from Swedes Mordbrand (that’s “arson” in Swedish for all ya illiterates out there). Simple mid-tempo riffs with the occasional d-beat, gurgling average growls and a very uninteresting, sterile and un-punchy production. Though “Necropsychotic” isn’t very original, the punkish aggression drives the songs forward with furore, and Mordbrand get one thumb up, at least.
“The Fall of Flesh” is probably my favorite song, with its slithering riffs and brooding atmosphere. If you’re in for some death metal that’s not going to pretend to be anything else than what it is, and is bold enough to insert transparent nods towards the genre originators’ influences (and that would be punk, you fucks), this could be for you.
6/10: There is some hair on these balls. For the next recording they’re hopefully long enough to be braided, and made into nooses for feeble Christians to hang in by their necks. The death of Jesus. By pubes. Isn’t that fucken beautiful.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
