Laconia: Exordium
28/01/13 || Pr0nogo
Here we have a South African, female-fronted “metal” band. What do they sound like? They sound kind of like The Project Hate, actually, if you take out all the guitar riffs, solos, drumming complexity, vocal talent, and intelligent use of melody. Huh. Yeah, the only similarity between TPH and Laconia is the chick. On that note, however, I must say that the vocals are probably the worst part about “Exordium”, in that the mixing would actually be tolerable if it weren’t for some girl half-whining, half-whispering and some guy sighing half-heartedly into the microphone. I know what you’re thinking: “that’s a lot of halves!” That’s just because Laconia is half a band. Hell, if the uninspired drumming and the run-of-the-mill guitar tunes didn’t spell it out for you, the album title is a sure enough sign that the band lacks creativity – in fact, I can name ten bands off the top of my head that have the same album title. So, I reiterate: Laconia is a half-band.
4/10: And half-bands aren’t worth my time.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
