Impiety: Dominator

30/07/08  ||  Lord K Philipson

The only band I know about from Singapore is Impiety (well, nowadays I also know about Infernal Execrator when I think about it). You can’t really make the claim that said country is a leading one in metal or anything, but these guys have kinda made a name for themselves during the years. This is more a fact of being from said country than actually being a band that delivers something noteworthy, I guess. Their discography holds some 12 or 13 releases including various rehearsals, EP’s, LP’s, CD’s and whatnot, and “Dominator” is their latest EP. So, let’s break it down:

The hooray’s:

  1. Their logo reminds me of Vomitory.
  2. They play (at times thrashy) death metal with noticeable influences from Morbid Angel, Krisiun, Merciless (Sweden) and the likes.
  3. They like double bass at full speed.

The boo’s:

  1. It all sounds the same; competent and aggressive but lacking the needed finesse.
  2. Weak production.
  3. The originals do it much better and far more interesting.

If you need a filthy dose of cleanly produced, but in general dirty (I don’t really know how that can make any sense, but hey… blow me), deathrash, check out Impiety. They are prolly not going to rock yer world, or even make yer penis move around a little, but it’s good for a moment of wanting to feel somewhat old-school and shit.

5,5 Singapore Sling’s out of 10.

I just need to use the extremely br00tal descriptions from their website as for what each member of Impiety play. That shit never gets old.
