Hail!Hornet: Hail!Hornet
23/05/08 || Kampfar
All hail the Yak Killer Hornet, as it is the single most lethal of all known hornet species, killing 70 people a year in Japan alone. Awesome, hope you get stung in both eyes, cunt.
None of the alcoholic redneck members of Hail!Hornet has killed or maimed, at least their bio don’t do a mention, but these Southerns (North Carolina) sure looks pissed and mean, and more than up for some proper manslaughter. Much like most black metal cunts don’t. Fuck them raccoons, and my derail, as you are probably more interested in learning how Hail!Hornet ended up with their awkward moniker. Well, apparently the piss drunk version of Dave “Dixie” Collins, courtesy of many bands, tinkered with a nest of stingers located were then named Vagabond rocked out, that being a shed. As always, my new found hero, Mr. Dixie himself, did such a proper job, the buzzers eventually forced the whole band to flee the location.
So, hail the hornets.
But hail all of them here assholes as well, for they are not kidding around like the bunch of pretenders most metal fucks are. Die. Oh no, here is proper “fuck it all with an A.I.D.S stick” attitude, their influences being, and I quote: “Everything dirty, and nothing pretty”. I sure have heard me dirtier sounding bands, as the production here is really rather clean and well defined, but that in such a way it only makes the bile and hate radiate at a maximum degree. One word: excellent.
Hail!Hornet is not an easy band to classify or pinpoint to a single genre, but if you like it heavy and mean, groovy and stomping, a grim smile will decorated your ugly face long before the record has ended. To check if you’ve got what it takes, go for “Foxy fuck/no solution”. If it doesn’t make you want to bang your head/smash your apartment, fuck off and choke on apple pie (the label/band name the style grime metal, a fitting description for sure).
If I had discovered this album at the time of release, it would have ended up on my best of 2007 list.
9 out of 10 stings deadly.
