Evangelist: Doominicanes
12/11/13 || gk
Second album from this Polish traditional doom metal band and things are completely average and unspectacular. Sure, Candlemass remains a big influence but these songs are seriously lacking in personality. While their debut album sounded energetic while still being derivative, “Doominicanes” just sounds tired. The vocals are still the high point on this album though and sound quite powerful. The guitar riffs are firmly in the “nothing special” category and as a result these 5 songs sound dull and uninspired. Evangelist sounded like a band with plenty of promise on their debut but on “Doominicanes” the band seems to have slipped quite a bit.
5/10: pretty pedestrian traditional doom metal.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
