Delerict: Perpetuation
15/11/12 || jaimeviejo
Derelict is an interesting Canadian trio than can be “easily” defined as The Black Dahlia Murder fronted by Randy from Lamb of God with Steve Di Giorgio playing bass. Without being as repetitive as Dahlia, they share the constant blast beats, the Swedish school of riffing and the dual high/low screams. In their favor I have to say that they know how to construct meaningful songs and not just a cacophony of riffs. One of the best aspects of the recording is that the bass is audible all the time. A good thing given that Xavier Sperdouklis is an excellent fretless bass player. They have another album, “Unspoken Words”, released in 2009, that had the same style but it was more brutal. Now it seems that they have refined their sound and added more melodic elements.
A good heavy but a little bit boring album that shows promise.
7/10: Keep blasting!
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
