Beissert: Darkness: devil: death
25/05/13 || gk
Third album from this German groove thrash/ metal band and it’s not too bad. The riffs are thick and chunky and the band hit on a few good grooves throughout this album but what makes this album stand out a bit from the faceless hordes is the vocal performance of Bssrt who pretty much sounds like a slightly out of tune, shouty Matt Barlow. He has a bit of a tough time hitting the higher notes and staying in tune but overall there’s something almost charming about his balls to the wall performance here. The music tends to get a bit old after about 6-7 songs but overall “Darkness: devil: death” has an energy and enthusiasm to it that is quite good. At times the band comes across like a more groove metal oriented Iced Earth. Now if only they wrote better songs.
6/10: A strange but occasionally pleasing album.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
