Amenra: Live
13/12/12 || gk
Live album from Belgium’s finest, collecting a bunch of songs played at different venues. The band’s brand of atmospheric sludge/ doom/ post metal (call it what you will) sounds fantastic and with vocalist Colin Van Eeckhout sounding even more tortured in the live setting it’s all pretty great. The live mix sounds pretty good and quite consistent considering these songs were all recorded at different shows. Amenra has a new album coming out later this month on Neurot Recordings and this live album just whets my appetite. This is truly powerful and captivating music and a damn good live album. Fans of the band should already be aware of this release but if you’ve never heard this band before then Live is a good place to start.
8/10: Pretty essential for fans and a good starting point for newcomers.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
